Xbox to Feature Voice Recognition
Microsoft and Sony both together announce the Xbox, codenamed Durango to perform natural language recognition in a similar way to Apple's Siri. The Xbox 360 has some voice recognition in a similar way to Apple's Siri. Sporting improved speech recognition technology and supporting natural language controls and speech-to-text. You will be able to turn on the console by saying Xbox on while remaining close to the system. Like Siri service is implemented in Apple products, Microsoft 's console will include natural language detection. Enables you to ask your console that “what are your friends playing” to get a friends list.
The Verge says that the next Xbox will be able to perform speech-to-text, natural language recognition and wake on voice tasks. Durango is paired up with a next-generation Kinetic to offer substantially better voice and motion detection. Around 75 million Xbox 360s in the wild but just a small fraction of those having a Kinetic is paired with them.
The consoles will be undoubtedly be much powerful than current phones and tablets. It seems plausible that it could handle the speech recognition on the hardware itself instead of sending it to the cloud same as Siri does. Enables you to use the service better offering on-the-fly updating to the software.
